The cast looks good on paper too: Torsten Kerl, Kate Aldrich, Camilla Nylund... and we should not forget the DOB Choir which Opernwelt Magazine voted as "Choir of the Year 2009" [Yours Truly will never forget their absolutely astounding performance in Tannhauser!].
One week later, in Freiburg will premiere the Calixto Bieito's production of "Le Grand Macabre" which I am more than sorry not to be able to see...
Other interesting new productions :
- "Don Pasquale" by Jetske Mijnssen (a young Dutch directrice), will be premiered at Komische Oper Berlin (January 31)
- "Norma" by Peter Mussbach will open on Monday (!), January 18, in Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris
- "Der fliegende Hollander" by Alex Rigola (?), with Stephen Gould, Anja Kampe and Hans-Peter Konig will start next week in Teatro Real, Madrid (January 12) [ erratum : this is the revival of a production premiered in 2007 - many thanks to Mei for her precious correction ]
- "Owen Wingrave" by Walter Suttclife (a good young director) in Frankfurt Oper (January 24)
- "Manon Lescaut" by Lluis Pasqual [whose Don Giovanni I did not really like] will start in Lyon Opera on January 21 (Vassileva, Dydik!) with our dear Kazushi Ono
- "The Fairy Queen" by Jonathan Kent at Opéra Comique in Paris (January 16) [erratum 2: this is the coproduction with Glyndebourne festival, where this production has been premiered pas summer. See their website for two interesting videos.]
- "Dialogues des Carmélites" by Ebbe Knudsen in Copenhagen Opera (January 28)
Hello, just a correction about Teatro Real's Der fliegende Hollander, the production was premiered on April 2007. Alex Rigola is a catalan theater director...
ReplyDeleteMy impression about the production was not good...
Thank you Mei! My bad. You won't believe me if I tell you this was the ONLY one entry I didn't double check...
ReplyDeleteToo bad the production isn't good; the cast is definitely a top notch.
