  1. La Favorite (sic) looks very interesting with Coote and Texier. En Francais I hope.

  2. Well spotted John! Actually it's written explicitly that La Favorite will be given in French.

The program is good, in addition to the one at Pleyel, and so in the end I guess I can significantly cut on my operatic trips next year.

  3. Any idea which performances will be available on the internet?

Along that line, is there any dependable website that a person could consult to find live or delayed performances on the internet?

  4. Hi Jim. Hang on...

Just read in the program that the subscribers should send their requests asap, as they plan to put all their tickets on the Internet on June 25 2012. So if you book your tickets by the end of June you should be OK (maybe Thielemann, Kaufmann, Florez, DiDonato could be tricky to get but for the rest it's normally OK if you book in September.) Of course earlier you book the better the seats you might get.

No the performances from TCE are not available on the Internet. Only once-twice a year Arte Live Web broadcasts something from TCE, but otherwise no... As for the radio broadcasts, they are frequent and you can find them on Radio France Musique.

  5. Have you any idea about the role being played by Edwin Crossley-Mercer in Pénélope? I should be most grateful for your enlightenment.

    Many thanks - T.

  7. Many thanks. I must brush up my Fauré version of Homer's masterpiece to ascertain how he fits it. I see that there will be one performance of it on June 20th 2013. A prestigious opportunity indeed. Next stop as Sharpless in Madame Butterfly in Saint Etienne in April, where I shall be sure to attend.

    With reiterated tahnks,

    T.

  9. Don Giovanni is already coming out in bits and pieces on youtube.
There is a full length radio version now and several video clips. It was shown on Mezzo tv in HD.

Curious to note that the show is tuned down almost a half step. And that Masetto and Commendatore did not have microphones.
