Paris in June



Pretty exciting program to conclude the 2010-2011 season in Paris.


Salle Pleyel
  • Tue 7: Amazingly talented Rafal Blechacz will give his piano recital at Pleyel: excellent program if you'd like to get to know this guy 
  • Wed 8 and Thu 9: Esa-Pekka Salonen will lead Orchestre de Paris in a program which includes La Mer de Debussy, a Piano concerto by Ravel (David Fray on piano) and the Beethoven's Symph. no.7 
  • Wed 15 and Thu 16: 1 week later it will be a young gem among conductors, Kazuki Yamada, to conduct Orchestre de Paris. Program: Overture to Glinka's Ruslan and Ludmila, Piano concerto by Khachaturyan (Jean-Yves Thibaudet on piano), and the Tchaikovsky's Symphony no.6 
  • Fri 17: In a similar formula Myung-Whun Chung will conduct his OPRF (Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France) in a program consisting of the Piano concerto no.2 by Prokofiev (Sunwook Kim on piano) and The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky 
  • Sat 18: London Symphony Orchestra under Bernard Haitink will accompany Murray Perahia in a piano concerto by Schumann, and then will throw in the Bruckner's 4th.  
  • Thu 23: This time Paavo Järvi  will conduct his Orchestre de Paris in a performance of the Piano concerto no.5 by Beethoven (Till Fellner on piano), and will add three pieces by Schumann including the Symphony no.3 
  • Sat 25: Gurre-Lieder with Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno, all conducted by Marc Albrecht. A SUPERB cast includes: Christiane Iven, Lance Ryan, Anna Larsson, Albert Dohmen, Arnold Bezuyen, and Barbara Sukowa will be narrating
  • Wed 29, Thu 30: Always fantastic Gianandrea Noseda will conduct Orchestre de Paris. Prokofiev's cantata Alexander Nevski will be sung by Elena Zhidkova -- check out the program.

  • Wed 15, Fri 17, Sun 19, Tue 21, Wed 22: New production of Idomeneo [dir- Stéphane Braunschweig, cnd- Jérémie Rhorer (Le Cercle de l'Harmonie), cast: Richard Croft, Alexandra Coku, Sophie Karthäuser, Kate Lindsey, Paolo Fanale, Nigel Robson, Nahuel Di Pierro
  • Thu 16: Piano recital by one of the most brilliant pianists today - Alexandre Tharaud (program structured about his recent CD - Scarlatti
  • Sat 18: Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment conducted by Simon Rattle will continue celebrating the Mozart festival in June, by performing the symphonies by Haydn and Mozart and a Concerto for 4 hands by Mozart with Katia & Marielle Labèque on piano 
  • Mon 20: Die Entführung aus dem Serail in concert [cnd- Christoph Spering (Das Neue Orchester), cast: Eva Mei, Xavier Mas, Kurt Rydl, François Piolino, Anna Palimina, and Chorus Musicus Köln] 
  • Fri 24: Vêpres d'un confesseur by Mozart [cnd- Jérémie Rhorer (Le Cercle de l'Harmonie), cast: Reiner Trost, Ann Hallenberg, Sally Matthews, Nahuel di Pierro
  • Sat 25: Ebène Quartet together with Eric Le Sage will perform a pretty combo of Mozart's chamber music 
  • Tue 28: La Finta giardiniera in concert [dir- Richard Egarr (Nardo Academy of Ancient Music), cast: Andrew Kennedy, Rosemary Joshua, Klara Ek, Andrew Foster-Williams, ...]

  • Fri 10: Daniele Gatti and his Orchestre de Paris continue their tour de force and give us the full opus by Mahler. This time it will be the 8th. Among singers: Kerstin Avemo, Melanie Diener, Erin Wall, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Detlef Roth, James Morris, Nikolai Andrei Schukoff
  • Mon 20, Fri 24, Mon 27, Thu 30: Il Postino at Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris [dir- Ron Daniels, cnd- Jean-Yves Ossonce, cast: Placido Domingo, Charles Castronovo, Christina Gallardo-Domas, Laurent Alvaro...]



Opéra Comique

Cité de la Musique
  • Tue 7: Les Arts Florissants, the Soloistes of the Jardin des Voix, and maestro William Christie will celebrate the music by Lully 
  • Wed 8: Ein deutsches Requiem by Brahms with Orchestre National de Lille,  BBC Symphony Chorus, conducted by  Jean-Claude Casadesus. Sally Matthews and Dietrich Haenschel will sing 
  • Thu 9: Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, and the Chorus Accentus, conducted by Laurence Equilbey will play various lesser known pieces by Mendelssohn; Sandrine Piau, Robert Getchell and Markus Butter will sing. 
  • Wed 15: ll Giardino Armonico conducted by Giovanni Antonini will perform the music by Corelli, Torelli, Conti, Bach and Pergolesi. Roberta Invernizzi and Bernarda Fink will sing 
  • Fri 17: Ensemble intercontemporain with Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, all of them conducted by Susanna Mälkki, will perform/sing music by Mantovani, Fedele and Maria Staud 
  • Sat 18: Liederabend of songs by Mahler, Wolf, Schumann and Brahms, Nathalie Stutzmann will sing (Inger Södergren, piano)  
  • Wed 22: Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria [dir- Chiara H. Savoia, cnd- Claudio Cavina (La Venexiana), cast: Mirco Guadagnini, Oksana Lazareva, Martina Belli...]
