Pretty exciting program to conclude the 2010-2011 season in Paris.
Salle Pleyel
- Tue 7: Amazingly talented Rafal Blechacz will give his piano recital at Pleyel: excellent program if you'd like to get to know this guy
- Wed 8 and Thu 9: Esa-Pekka Salonen will lead Orchestre de Paris in a program which includes La Mer de Debussy, a Piano concerto by Ravel (David Fray on piano) and the Beethoven's Symph. no.7
- Wed 15 and Thu 16: 1 week later it will be a young gem among conductors, Kazuki Yamada, to conduct Orchestre de Paris. Program: Overture to Glinka's Ruslan and Ludmila, Piano concerto by Khachaturyan (Jean-Yves Thibaudet on piano), and the Tchaikovsky's Symphony no.6
- Fri 17: In a similar formula Myung-Whun Chung will conduct his OPRF (Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France) in a program consisting of the Piano concerto no.2 by Prokofiev (Sunwook Kim on piano) and The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky
- Sat 18: London Symphony Orchestra under Bernard Haitink will accompany Murray Perahia in a piano concerto by Schumann, and then will throw in the Bruckner's 4th.
- Thu 23: This time Paavo Järvi will conduct his Orchestre de Paris in a performance of the Piano concerto no.5 by Beethoven (Till Fellner on piano), and will add three pieces by Schumann including the Symphony no.3
- Sat 25: Gurre-Lieder with Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno, all conducted by Marc Albrecht. A SUPERB cast includes: Christiane Iven, Lance Ryan, Anna Larsson, Albert Dohmen, Arnold Bezuyen, and Barbara Sukowa will be narrating
- Wed 29, Thu 30: Always fantastic Gianandrea Noseda will conduct Orchestre de Paris. Prokofiev's cantata Alexander Nevski will be sung by Elena Zhidkova -- check out the program.
